July 23, 2020

Air Canada today announced the gradual re-opening of its Maple Leaf Lounges, featuring new biosafety protocols for the well-being of customers and employees. The Maple Leaf Lounge at Toronto Pearson, D gates re-opens on July 24 to eligible customers travelling on a domestic or international flight, with the Maple Leaf Lounges located in the domestic departure areas at airports in Montreal and Vancouver set to re-open by Labour Day.

Biosafety measures upon entry

With your continued safety in mind throughout your travel journey, customers will be required to scan their own boarding pass, status card, or membership card to enter the lounge. The card swiper will be disinfected after each use.

Face masks are madatory for customers as well as our employees, who will be undergoing daily health checks. As a means of contact tracing, a record will be kept of all lounge visitors for 30 days.

Complimentary meals and beverages

In the lounge, meals can be ordered and delivered straight to your table through the new Maple Leaf Lounge @ la table service simply by scanning an NFC or QR code found at the table.

In addition, customers can select from two cold meal options, pre-packaged and sealed in a convenient meal snack bag. During select times, hot options and a kid’s menu are also available. A shrimp roll offering will also be available in the evenings from Air Canada's culinary partner, chef Antonio Park.

Meal options are adjusted based on time of day, and an antiseptic wipe and a disposable cutlerly roll will be provided with each meal.

There will also be assisted bar service with our full bar offering.

Entertainment and business services

For your enjoyment, all reading materials (over 7,000 magazines and newspapers) will be available digitally via PressReader on your smartphone or tablet. Limited iPads will also be made available and are sanitized between each use. Our business services will be limited to complimentary Wi-Fi and remote printing.

Additional protocols

Each table and chair will be sanitized after every use, all high-touch areas are disinfected regularly throughout the day. Lounges are divided into separate sections to facilitate these additional cleaning procedures, including electrostatic spraying, which requires a particular section to be closed for about 5-10 minutes.

A dedicated washroom attendant will be on duty, responsible for disinfecting and sanitizing facilities after use. Showers will remain closed until further notice.

Please note that other partner lounges may also be closed. Check directly with the operating carrier for details.

Note that Air Canada has temporarily suspended the selling of new Maple Leaf Club memberships. Memberships purchased before April 6, 2020 will automatically be extended by six months.
